Congregational Care

 
Mission:  To minister to the needs of persons within our own congregation, to strengthen family life among the couples of the   in
     congregation, to support the single persons, to develop and enhance the church's ministry to and with the youth (other than the
     church school program), to keep in contact with the church membership in general, and to involve every member of the
     congregation the worship, work and life of the local church.
 
 
Membership:  Two elders as co-chairpersons, hospitality co-chairman of PW, hospitality chairman of MOC, representative of BEST
     YEARS, PW circle chairmen, 3 members at large, pastor (ex officio)
 
Responsibilities:
 
     1.  Seek to keep members of the congregation informed about the total program and activities of the church
 
     2.  Visitation
          - set up visitation program for sick and shut-ins
          - maintain program of taking communion to sick and shut-ins
          - new members and new parents, encouraging baptism of new infants
          - inform card secretary of persons needing sympathy cards, etc.
          - send bulletins, keep in touch with college students, etc.
 
     3. Fellowship activities
          - coordinate fellowship dinners
          - church team athletics, if any
          - recruit kitchen coordinator
 
     4.  Oversee:
          - Presbyterian Women's organization
          - Men of the Church organization
          - BEST YEARS
 
     5.  Sponsorship/New Member packets
          - Gather materials and make new member packets
          - Encourage congregation to help new members "feel at home"
          - Arrange that pictures be taken of new members
 
     6.  Telephone Tree
          - maintain annually a phone prayer circle
          - develop a "telephone tree" for shut-ins
 
     7.  Parish Nurse Committee shall be a subcommittee of this committee
     8.  Consult Clerk of Session annually regarding the church roll.  Encourage constantly the inactive members and possibly
          make recommendations to the session of those who should be transferred from the active to the inactive roll and vice versa.
     9.  Prepare church newsletter once a month
     10.  Recommend annually to Finance/Stewardship Committee budget
