Evangelism / Outreach

 
Mission:  To lead the congregation in reaching out into the community and beyond by providing opportunities for service that bear 
     witness to our Lord Jesus Christ.  This calls for a vigil for prospective members and the non-churched;  and ministering to those
     needing the comfort and help of dedicated Christians.
 
Membership:  One (or two) elders, members at large from the congregations, consisting of (but not limited to) the various church
     organizations; pastor (ex officio).
 
Responsibilities:
     1.  Develop a Prospective Visitation Program
          - follow-up visits to those nonmembers who attend church service or other church functions
          - community survey
         - real estate listings
          - polling congregation, etc.
     2.  RCS Emergency Center/Soup Kitchen
          - recommend to the Finance/Stewardship Committee annually the budget for RCS operation
          - collect food donations and deliver them to RCS
          - March is the church's emphasis month for food collection
     3.  Annual Budget:  recommend to Finance/Stewardship committee an annual budget for the needs of this committee
     4.  Annual Mission Speaker
          - enlist help of various organizations within church to promote the cause of national/international mission of the church
          - select a date during the first quarter of each year
          - secure a mission speaker
     5.  Crop Walk:  appoint a coordinator for the walk that takes place in October
     6.  Pennies for Hunger:  This offering is part of the One Great Hour of Sharing offering. 
          - distribute the containers for the collection in January
          - encourage and remind the congregation to give their two pennies per person per meal
          - orchestrate the collection of the containers on Easter morning and assist the treasurer in counting and rolling coins in
            preparation for deposit
     7.  Homeplace:  Organize a visit to the facility once a month. (Generally on the fourth Tuesday)
     8.  Joy Gift: 
          - coordinate with the Presbyterian Women to prepare for the offering
          - assist in the collection of the offering in December
          - ensure that the gift is forwarded to the Presbytery in a timely manor
     9.  Refugee Sponsorship:
          - participate with the Interfaith Refugee Ministry to co-sponsor refugee families whenever possible
          - assist in helping those families once they arrive in whatever way we may be needed
