Meet the Pastor

Pastor Jeff Sockwell

Pastor Jeff is a graduate of Appalachian State University.

He served as an elder at Plaza Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC prior to seminary. He attended Columbia Theological Seminary and graduated in 1992. He served First Presbyterian Church in Charleston until 1995, when he began his ministry at West New Bern Presbyterian Church.

Jeff's involvement in the community includes serving on the boards of the New Bern Chamber of Commerce and Episcopal Migration Ministries. In addition he has served as an Adjunct Chaplain at the Craven Regional Hospital.

He has been actively involved in the life of New Hope Presbytery, serving as moderator of the Camp Albemarle Committee, the Communications Committee, and the Commissioned Lay Pastor Committee, as well as serving on the Committee of Ministry.

Jeff recently celebrated his twenty-fifth anniversary with wife Janet. They have two children: daughter Sarah Katherine Wright and son Daniel.

Jeff enjoys photography, sea kayaking, tennis, and golf.
